"NSSLHA Loves" CINI
Every year the Executive
Council of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
selects an organization or cause that it considers worthy of their support. We are pleased to announce that CINI has
been chosen as the beneficiary of the 2002 – 2003 “NSSLHA Loves” campaign. CINI was selected because of its work on
behalf of people living with ALS/MND.
NSSLHA is the national
organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the study of
human communication and related disabilities. NSSLHA is the only official national
student association recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing
Association (ASHA). NSSLHA has
approximately 11,000 members with chapters in more than 294 colleges and
universities.
The
“NSSLHA Loves” campaign began in 1983 and today it has developed into a very
successful philanthropic activity bringing NSSLHA chapters together with
grassroot organizations like CINI in support of a good cause.
Over the last five years,
NSSLHA has lent support to:
2001
American Parkinsons Disease Foundation
2000
American
Society of Deaf Children
1999
The
National Stuttering Projects
1998
Pediatric Aids
Foundation
1997
National
Stroke Association
These funds will go towards
the development of a CD-ROM, Augmentative Communication Solutions for the
Individual with ALS. It will provide an overview of the communication
technology available for people with ALS (PALS), and serve as a teaching tool
for consumers and professionals by identifying alternative access methods for
communication devices and computers.
